Introduction
Touphema is a community-run heritage village 41 km north of Kohima, designed as a recreation of a traditional Angami settlement. Visitors stay in thatched cottages styled after Angami homes, eat in a community kitchen and watch cultural evenings around the fire.
History
Touphema Tourist Village was developed by the Touphema community with Nagaland Tourism in 2002 as one of India's earliest community-tourism projects, and it remains a model for traditional homestay clusters across Nagaland.

Best Time To Visit
October to April is the most comfortable window. Touphema is also a popular pre-Hornbill base in late November.

Drive 41 km from Kohima on the Wokha road — about 1.5 hours. From Dimapur airport, around 2.5 hours by car.

Around a dozen heritage cottages run by the community, with attached bathrooms, hot water and linen. Book in advance during the festival season.

- Pre-book during Hornbill — cottages fill up months ahead
- Carry a torch — pathways between cottages are dim at night
- Bring cash for purchases at the village
