Frequently Asked Questions

Can I visit Longwa during the Hornbill Festival?

Yes. Mon is a 2-day drive loop from Kohima, so we schedule the festival first and travel north afterwards when roads are quieter.

Do I need an extra permit for Longwa?

Indian nationals need only the Inner Line Permit, which is included. Foreign nationals must register with the FRO and carry passport copies for border-area checks.

Are the tattooed headhunters still alive?

A small number of elderly Konyak men with facial and chest tattoos remain in villages around Mon. Visits are arranged respectfully through the village Angh.
