Hornbill International Photo Fest

The festival's photography exhibition and competition strand.

What it is

The Hornbill International Photo Fest is the photography programme within the festival — exhibitions, competition entries and displays of work from Nagaland and beyond. It appeared at 10:00 AM on six days of the official 2025 programme.

Why it matters

The Hornbill Festival is one of the most photographed cultural events in Asia, and the Photo Fest is where that output is curated rather than merely captured. For visiting photographers it is also the best place to understand local expectations around consent and portraiture.

Where it takes place

Kisama Heritage Village.

Getting there: see how to reach Kisama and Kohima, and the Kisama Heritage Village venue guide.

Who should attend

Photographers, students and anyone interested in documentary work from Northeast India.

Before you travel, check the ILP & PAP permit requirements and budget guidance.
